February already!
Wow, January just flew by for me. Hope you’re enjoying winter wherever you are. We got alot of moisture in the form of rain during the month, but not really much snow. Many of our south sloping fields are melting off now with the recent sunny days. There is alot of ice in the mornings and puddles in the afternoon. These kind of conditions are hard on taprooted plants like alfalfa. It seems that the ice crystals cut away at the exterior root surfaces, and packed ice/snow suffocates the dormant plants if it stays in that condition too long.
We are starting some tomato plants in the window now. These will be moved to our greenhouse this month. We’re getting the greenhouses cleaned, supplies stocked, etc. so that we will be ready for a great spring. The days are getting noticably longer, so spring should be on the way.
As for family–Karen and I got a new grandson last week! Daughter Michelle and baby Matthew are doing great! What a miraculous and blessed experience to see a new life come into the world. Its a pity that the Obama/Pelosi genre doesn’t see it that way.
